April 20, 2012 Cleaning the East End Bathrooms

This week Jeff and I had the fun opportunity
to clean the East End Overlook bathrooms,
this is the only location of restrooms on the property
for visitors.  Remember AOA has no visitor center,
it is a beautiful place to ponder, pray, and enjoy the
spirit that this wonderful valley holds.
One of the treasures that you receive for this amazing service,
is the blessings of meeting the visitors, and hearing their stories.
Why they are here? Where they are going? and Where they are from?
Sound familiar.
This is the area that we burned and look how beautiful
the prairie grass is growing back soon the area will
be filled with flowers.

When visitors come to the East End they can enjoy a
picnic with the scenic view of the valley.

This is one of the visitor's that we met,
you can meet her also she is headed to Nauvoo to work in
the temple for 6 months,
Her name is Peggy, she is from Cardston Alberta Canada.
She is the granddaughter of  George S. Schow.
George was the postman in "Christmas Dress for Ellen".
Her mother Ruth Schow was eight years old that Christmas.
Her ward in Cardston honors Malad ID, for the Christmas
contribution every year.

This was another fun group of visitors that we met,
Lithgoes family,
Sister Lithgoe and her husband served as missionaries at AOA,
they were the 7th missionaries to serve here.
Her husband built the 4-plex that I am living in.
and their two sons helped roof the home.
It was so much fun to visit with them.
While serving at AOA in 1981-1983 the local town,
Gallatin was a branch, Gallatin now has a beautiful Church building,
and has three wards meeting there.

  1. That is so neat about Sister Schow. What a joy to meet so many people and hear their stories, and ones directly connected to you in a round about way.
