April 7 2012 Trip to Independence, Liberty, and Kansas City

Today was a busy day, we traveled to Independence, Liberty, and Kansas City.
We saw some wonderful sites today.  First we traveled to Independence, MO,
this is where the Independence Visitor Center, and the Temple site is located.

Independence Visitor Center

Lower floor of the visitor center has a Pioneer presentation.

When the saints first arrived in Independence, Mo, they would

build a cabin similair to this one, they would then share the

cabin with 13 families.  And the floor would be a dirt floor.

This is the replica of the Printing press used by William W. Phelps.

65 pages of the Book of Commandments were printed here

in Independence before the mob's destroyed the press.

The Book of Commandments now known as the Doctrine and Covenants,

was preserved when two young girls grabbed the pages and ran into the

corn fields, preserving these sacred pages.
