16 Jun 2012 Kingston, MO

Saturday, time to explore, we decided to visit the town of Kingston, MO.
We saw some fun sites.  Enjoy!!

Kingston, Far West's closest neighbor and the oldest of the eight towns in Caldwell County,
is located 5.5 miles southest of Far West.  It was laid out in 1843 as the new
county seat after the demise of Far West.  The town  was named after
Judge Austin A. King, an enemy of the Saints in Missouri who presided over the trial
of Joseph Smith and Lyman Wight.  In the Gallatin trials of Joseph Smith and others,
where Judge King was " as drunk as the jury".  King was elected governor of Missouri
im 1848.
