26 May 2012 Pony Express Museum, St Joseph, MO

Jeff and I traveled to St Joseph today to visit a couple of museums, it is about 60 miles
to St Joseph, MO.  First Stop the Pony Express National Museum. 
On 3 Apr 1860 a lone rider left on horseback from the gates of this stable.
the riders traveled 2000 miles west to Sacramento, CA.

Pony Express Stables


At 7:15 pm on 3 Apr 1860 the Pony Express began.


One of the Cabins along the way for the rider to relax,
and switch horses.








Map of 1861, many changes were made after the
Civil War, Territories were added and States were made.

This large map of the United States was on Display
in the Robidoux Hotel, now destroyed. 

It shows alot of interesting markings.






Steam Locamotive ran between Hannibal MO, to St Joseph MO.
Built 1937 at the cost of $99,265.00
Retired 1957
